Published context, not a personal price
What does a hair transplant cost in the UK?
The NHS publishes a broad UK range of £1,000 to £30,000. Its page says costs depend on the extent of hair loss, procedure type and the clinic and team. This is not an average, a current offer or a prediction of your bill.
The NHS page was last reviewed on 29 September 2023 and shows a next review due date of 29 September 2026. We checked it on 6 November 2026. That source check does not update its clinical review or establish today’s clinic prices.
Ask for your own full written cost and its scope. The published range does not specify a universal package, tax basis or travel allowance. Do not treat its lower end as an available price. The NHS describes hair transplantation as cosmetic surgery not available on the NHS.
A number is only the beginning
Compare what the quote actually covers.
Use these prompts alongside two written quotations. Select each document’s stated position. “Unclear” means you still need an answer, not that a service is free. This is not a clinic ranking or a safety score.
| Written quote item | Quote A | Quote B |
|---|
Request the treatment location, contracting organisation, quote date and expiry date. Keep consultation charges, sessions, facility fees and follow-up terms visible. If a service costs extra, ask for its charging basis. Our comparison records wording, not whether a proposed procedure is suitable.
Keep a separate note of unanswered questions and the date each answer was supplied. A phone conversation can clarify a document, but ask for important changes to be confirmed in writing. Comparing equivalent scope takes more than choosing the smallest number: distinguish a fixed quotation from an initial indication, and keep every exclusion beside the total you record.
Per-graft prices and package totals need different explanations. Do not convert hairs to grafts or use a price table to estimate personal needs. A package may bundle services that another quote excludes. Ask for a revised written total when the scope changes.
Your figures. No preset tariff.
Put the known costs together.
Enter your procedure quote, travel budget and separately quoted aftercare. The worksheet only adds those amounts. It does not calculate graft requirements, finance interest, currency conversion, future treatment or financial affordability.
Enter zero only when you have confirmed there is no additional cost. If follow-up is already included in the procedure price, do not add it again. Leave unknown items unresolved rather than using zero to create a reassuring total.
No tool inputs are sent to us or saved in browser storage. The result and your inclusion selections can go into a TXT question brief on your device. Keep personal and health information out of that note.

Beyond the headline price
Travel and follow-up belong in the conversation.
A local appointment can involve parking or train fares; an overseas package can involve exchange fees, additional nights and return travel. Neither location removes surgical risk. Ask where follow-up happens, who provides it and what you would pay if arrangements change.
The NHS warns that ordinary travel insurance does not normally cover things going wrong in surgery. Ask the insurer and provider for written answers. We do not recommend countries or coordinate medical travel. Discuss individual recovery and travel timing with the treating professional, not this worksheet.
Take questions, not assumptions
Your consultation question brief.
The NHS suggests asking about the surgeon’s qualifications and experience, possible complications and follow-up. CQC’s England guidance says the full procedure cost must be given in writing in advance. Use official sources directly; our site has not vetted providers.
Check the relevant clinic location with CQC in England and the doctor’s registration and licence through the GMC. CQC is not the regulator for every UK nation. Registration is a check, not an endorsement or an outcome guarantee.
Ask who holds your contract, what the deposit reserves, which cancellation terms apply and whether further treatment could cost extra. Take the documents away. No discount or monthly payment figure replaces time to consider a serious decision.
A short list to take away
- Who would operate, and at which location?
- What does the written price include and exclude?
- Where will follow-up happen, and who pays?
- What happens if dates or the agreed scope change?
- Can I review the full terms before deciding?

Six practical cost guides.
Each guide handles a different document or budgeting task. None provides a clinical assessment, graft-count recommendation or donor-area diagnosis.

Keep the next step informed.
You can use every worksheet without sharing contact details. An enquiry records your interest with this website, not with a named surgeon. We cannot confirm treatment availability, arrange an appointment or promise a response from a clinic.
Do not submit scalp images or medical information. For symptoms, individual treatment decisions or concerns after surgery, seek appropriate medical help rather than using this general cost-planning site.
Editorial cost information; no clinical reviewer or medical assessment is claimed.
